Nicky Ryan Seminar – Budapest Recap (October 26)

Budapest was the final stop of the Nicky Ryan European Seminar Tour, and it couldn’t have ended on a better note. On October 26, grapplers from all over Hungary gathered at UTE Judo Szakosztály for an afternoon of high-level no-gi learning.
The focus of the seminar was on wrestle-ups — using control, timing, and smart angle changes to turn guard into offense. Nicky broke down how to create movement, connect to the legs, and convert every exchange into a scoring opportunity. The pace was methodical, and the concepts clicked quickly across all levels.
During the VIP session, he dove into body-lock passing, emphasizing safe entries, upper-body connection, and how to neutralize hip movement before applying pressure. The structure and precision of his approach gave everyone a deeper understanding of how to dominate top position with efficiency instead of strength.
The atmosphere throughout the day was relaxed but focused — the perfect mix for learning, rolling, and connecting with one of the sport’s most technical minds.
